The concept of Scout Digital began in 1999 as an idea for a better website alternative to a clunky college directory and has undergone many transformations since. July 2024 marks its official five-year anniversary.
Today, we’re a blazing fire, a full-fledged marketing agency with a focus on Revenue Marketing. But the journey wasn’t always a straight line. It’s a story of evolution, of learning from experience, and most importantly, of building a culture that fosters collaboration and accountability.
From Video Production to Revenue Marketing
Many moving parts built up our full history (read more here). Our president’s background was in video production, specifically focusing on high-volume iteration and understanding which elements resonated best with viewers. However, the success of those videos hinged on a crucial factor: the conversion rate of the landing pages they directed viewers to. This realization, coupled with the limitations of working in a siloed environment, led to the creation of Scout Digital.
The initial focus was on integrating video and website design, but our ambitions grew. We saw the potential to offer a holistic marketing experience, one that encompassed everything from initial brand messaging to the final conversion point. This is where Revenue Marketing emerged as our guiding principle.
